[Link] | Bought myself a computer this weekend.
I was tired of all of the crap going wrong with one POS after another, so I decided 'To heck with it! I'm getting something newer!"

I got: 64 bit Pent4 D dual core 3.2gHz 1gig RAM (upgradeable to 4gig) 320g SATA2 hhd with a bunch of stuff extra Paid: $220.
Funny thing is that I bought this at a pawn shop. Whoever turned it in had set the BIOS to load in a RAID format. There is only one drive, so no RAID available. Reset the BIOS by default jumper and set it back to normal boot. After that, it was cake. Granted, Vista was corrupt, so had to put XP Pro on it. Now I am scrounging around for drivers.

Things at work are getting worse, so I am starting to look elsewhere. It's all politics, not my performance, so I figure that there is an opportunity opening up to make about $18k more than I am making now. May as well take it, right?
That's it for now. I have a working system, so I'll try to be posting more, for those who miss me. =)

I am starting a cabal As I have mentioned before, my boss is Dan. He is one of my very best friends ever. He is also in a bit of trouble.
Background: (not all inclusive) He is the program supervisor of the computer department. He is the 4th supervisor in the last two years. Needless to say, the department is not doing well. There have been 2 computer teachers fired in the last 3 months for incompetence and other things. Corporate is trying to radically change the whole schools environment and is threatening teachers who do not conform to these new standards fast enough. As a side note: this is all departments, not just ours.
Himself: Dan is working more hours than he is claiming. He is working himself into a state where an ulcer is in his near future. He is already a stress monkey, but this is ridiculous. He was working himself into such a state tonight, I did not even need any empathic skills to feel him down the hall. So, I kicked him out of the building. I verbally berated him to shut down his system, and go home. I forbade him from thinking about work, demanded that he get some ice cream and do something strictly to relax. I then told him to read in the Old Testament Job 38 to get his perspective back. As a side note: He has been my friend longer than my boss, so I have not only the right but the duty to give him a good swift kick in the right direction when he needs it.
The Plan: I have already started a guerrilla action this evening to assist Dan. I have contacted two of my students that I know that I can trust to enter my cabal. I have assigned them the duties to let the Big Boss know how much they appreciate Dan and everything that he has done. They are going to also recruit others into this cabal with out letting them know that I am the one pushing it. One of them is brighter than the other and is already making plans with in 15 minuets of my approaching them. (I have good minions) The second order of this is that they are to boost Dan up directly with out being too overt. A pat on the back, an 'attaboy', a statement of appreciation. Subtlety is the name of the game here on both fronts. Anything too obvious and everything I am trying to build here will backfire and make things much, much worse. I am also going to try to get a couple of the day students in on this. Yet another side note: They may try to get the main trouble maker fired. (I do not advocate this, but would not be opposed either.)
For Those Who Read This: Is there anything I am missing? Any suggestions to make this easier/more affective? I am politically stupid, I do not play politics well. How can I make this situation better? Anything will help, even a 'You're a f**king idiot.'

[Link] | So, something ironic happened tonight.
While watching some Full Metal Panic AMVs on Youtube tonight, one of the songs was 'Dirty Little Secret'. I won't go into why it was ironic just yet, but we all have our own Dirty Little Secrets, don't we?

[Link] | Gah.
Today is so blah. I cannot focus on anything longer than 15 minuets. I've started 2 movies and did not make it past the opening. I don't know what's wrong with me tonight.
I'm going to go try to read for a bit, see if that helps.

[Link] | I am kinda ashamed of myself. I allowed someone to antagonize me into responding in ways I should be grown up enough not to.
There is an unpleasant individual who has decided that they do not like me because of this icon...or, at least that is why, I think. They have never said why. No matter.
After a brief spat of words, I remembered the saying: "Winning an argument on the internet is like winning the Special Olympics; you may have won, but you are still retarded."
So, I tried to stop it. Hopefully they'll agree that there are better things in life than useless antagonism. Somehow, I doubt it, but I can hope.

[Link] | Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Mc Cain were flying to a debate.
Barack looked at Hillary, Chuckled and said, "You know I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy."
Hillary shrugged her shoulders and replied, "I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people very happy."
John added, "That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a hundred people very happy."
Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his copilot, "Such big-shots back there. I could throw all three of them out of the window and make 300 million people very happy."
I'm voting for the Pilot

[Link] | The Good:
Believe it or don't, I am still teaching. I am enjoying my job, I am enjoying teaching my subjects, I am enjoying most of the students. My students like/love me. The corporate guys like/love me. I have only heard positive things in reference to myself. On that front, most everything is good.
The Bad:
I lost my license. I was caught doing 77 in a 65. The cop came back with that my license had been suspended on 5/27 with out any warning what-so-ever. No written notice, no verbal/telephonic notice, nothing. So, now I have to be driven around everywhere - work or any place else I want to go - by my roommate. I have no desire to be popped for driving with out a license. That would be just too much crap to handle. However, I have already paid the $60 reinstatement fee and should have my license back within 3 to 4 weeks. It will be a pain in the ass until then, but livable.
The Ugly:
Being that my vehicle died on the way out here from Pennsylvania, I had to get another one to replace it. I tried 4 or 5 places and none of them really worked. So, I found a 2005 Dodge Neon that I really liked, low miles, excellent body, no major or minor flaws to it (I had them run a Carfax report on it), decent price. Drove it off the lot, happy as can be. Of course, if it makes me happy, I cannot have it. They did not verify with a lender if I could get it or not before I left. Five rejection letters later, they want it back. I am going through several hoops just trying to get some wheels. Just to make things even more difficult, please refer to the prior paragraph. Colorado Springs is not public transportation friendly. There is no way I could use public transportation (read: bus) to get where I need to go and by when. I'd look into taxis, but they will get very expensive.
Things are not looking too bright outside of the job. But I will muddle through, just like always. I just hope that the dividends on the investment that I made kick in soon....and that is a whole 'nother story.

I'm now 38 So, for my birthday today I received some cash from the parents (Thanks, Mom & Dad) and my boss took me out to lunch at Country Buffet. That was nice in and of itself.
One of my students brought me a slice of strawberry cheesecake. yum! Russ and Erin made me a German Chocolate cake...again, yum!
All in all, a fairly nice birthday.

[Link] | I am slightly bummed.
I had a very pleasant evening with a very pleasant female. At the last moment, I was not invited inside as I dropped her off. I thought she was going to, but alas, not.
Then she asked me about my roommate. *shakes fist at roommate*

A bit of meme sheepage Stolen from ladymalchav
1.Think of the first word that comes to mind when you think of me. 2. Go to Google Images and search for that word. 3. Reply to this post with one of the pictures on the first page of results (don't tell me the word). The html for images is here: <*img src=""> without the star. 4. Put this in your own journal so that I can do the same.
I love these kind of memes which let me get a peek at how you all see me. It's something no one can ever be sure of, how others see them. This kind of... random association stuff can be way more reveling than just asking 'what do you think of me?'. Cause, most of the time, even the person you're asking can't be sure.

A bug was crawling across the floor and made it under the fridge before he finally figured "Oh, I was supposed to eat that."
He would probably be scared of a mouse.
But I still love him.

Oral Update I have some good news, but have to explain it first.
About three weeks ago, I had a massive infection from a broken tooth. After that, every time I brushed my teeth, I would end up gagging/throwing up because of how sensitive my mouth had become.
Tonight, I was able to brush my teeth with out activating any gag reflex. Though, due to the broken tooth, I am still bleeding at the gum.
It will be good to be able to keep my mouth clean and healthy(er). This is something I doubt I will be taking for granted any time soon. I mean, this falls under the 'you never miss it until it's gone' category.
Speaking of said broken tooth, I have a dentist appointment on 5/23, so maybe I can get these problems resolved for good.

[Link] | So, I was at the Popeyes Chicken drive through. I ordered the #1 combo. When I was asked what side I wanted I asked 'What do you have?'
She responded 'Whatever you want.'
I said: 'Then I'll have the filet mignon.'
She responded 'Whatever you want...that's on the menu.'
I said: 'OK, I'll take the green beans.'
